Summer Thrive Supports Libby Kids with Special Needs

  • Local Champion: Cabinet Peaks Medical Center
  • Date Funded: May 29, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $3,800

Libby children with special needs have no structured summer programming to maintain their therapeutic progress, leading to measurable regression in physical, social, and life skills during the long summer break. One local occupational therapist wanted to fill this gap with a professionally led program that kept kids engaged over the summer, so she reached out to LOR with her solution. LOR’s funding will help Cabinet Peaks Medical Center launch a seven-week “Summer Thrive” program for 10-12 students in grades 5-12, featuring therapeutic movement, life skills training, and community outings led by two pediatric professionals. The program will help Libby’s kids with special needs continue their development over the summer, arriving back at school ready to learn and grow.
