A Training Manikin Expands Libby’s EMT Capabilities

  • Local Champion: Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service
  • Date Funded: May 19, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $26,908

The Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service’s volunteer EMTs are authorized to provide basic emergency care, but most lack the advanced airway management and IV therapy endorsements needed to treat patients in critical situations like trauma, overdose, and cardiac emergencies. Without a local training manikin, volunteers must travel out of town for advanced certification at a cost of $1,500-$1,600 per person—an expense the nonprofit cannot absorb. One ambulance board member wanted to help all of the service’s volunteers earn advanced endorsements, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service purchase a programmable simulation manikin and IV training arms. The equipment will allow all 22 EMTs to train and certify in advanced life-saving techniques, expanding the emergency care available to Libby residents when every minute counts.
