Cardiac Monitor Strengthens Emergency Response Coverage in Questa

  • Local Champion: Village of Questa
  • Date Funded: April 15, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $29,943

Questa residents rely on local emergency services during medical emergencies, but Questa Fire and EMS lacked adequate cardiac monitoring equipment, creating a serious risk during life-threatening events, especially given the area’s long transport times. During a routine equipment evaluation, the EMS chief realized that with only one cardiac monitor remaining, responders were left without essential equipment whenever the primary unit was deployed on a long-distance transport and reached out to LOR for support. LOR funding will help Questa Fire and EMS purchase a second cardiac monitor and defibrillator to ensure simultaneous emergency response coverage throughout the service area. This essential equipment will enable real-time cardiac assessment and defibrillation on both response vehicles, improving patient outcomes during cardiac emergencies in a rural area where extended transport times make on-site advanced life support critical to survival.
