Software Speeds Up Acequia Information Sharing in Questa

  • Local Champion: Questa Citizens Ditch Association
  • Date Funded: February 11, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,450

The Questa Citizens Ditch Association manages water distribution for more than 250 parciantes (members of an acequia who have water rights), but their outdated software system means water users and state managers often wait two to three weeks to receive critical data and schedules. Acequia leaders saw how these delays impeded local water management during Questa’s short summer months, so they came up with a solution: modernize their data collection system. LOR’s funding helped the association purchase new software and equipment to streamline real-time data collection and sharing of water levels and usage, providing timely, accurate information for parciantes and state agencies while improving local decision making.
