Solar Power Stations Safeguard Weiser’s Water

When a recent wildfire knocked out power to Weiser’s water storage tower, the city narrowly avoided losing its entire water supply—exposing a significant gap in the city’s emergency preparedness. Without backup power, the tower’s monitoring equipment goes dark during outages, leaving staff without the ability to track water levels and chemical concentrations. One city staff member worked with the city clerk and reached out to LOR with a solution: portable solar stations. LOR’s funding will help the city of Weiser purchase three portable solar power stations and four sandbag fillers, equipping staff to maintain continuous water quality monitoring during power outages. Together, these investments will ensure that residents have reliable access to safe water when it matters most.
