Modern Kiln Expands Access to Community Ceramics in Questa

  • Local Champion: Questa Creative Council
  • Date Funded: April 10, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $5,721

More Questa residents want to participate in the Ceramic Café’s community arts program, but the current manual kiln requires hours of close supervision—making it difficult to manage in a shared workshop with limited staff and volunteer capacity. The outdated equipment also poses safety risks and makes workshop scheduling less reliable. When the director of Questa Creative Council recognized these challenges, she reached out to LOR with a proposed solution: purchase a modern digital kiln with touchscreen controls and greater capacity to support safer, more reliable ceramics programming. The upgraded kiln will reduce volunteer supervision time, improve scheduling consistency, and expand access to hands-on creative opportunities for Questa artists, youth, and community members.
