Medical Equipment Enhances Emergency Care in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Community Ambulance Service
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $26,222

The Monte Vista Community Ambulance Service lacks adequate, up-to-date medical equipment essential for providing reliable emergency care to the community. After one staff member noticed their equipment failing—including a suction unit that malfunctioned during an emergency and pulse oximeters that had been in use for nearly a decade—he reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the Monte Vista Community Ambulance Service purchase new pulse CO-oximeters that measure both oxygen and carbon monoxide levels, electronic thermometers for more accurate temperature readings, and a reliable suction unit. The new diagnostic tools will be particularly vital for treating the increasing number of respiratory emergencies and carbon monoxide exposures in Monte Vista—where many homes rely on propane tanks for heat and energy—ensuring that first responders can provide more precise and effective emergency care for years to come.
