Lighting Keeps a Libby Community Center Open

  • Local Champion: Kootenai Heritage Council, Inc
  • Date Funded: February 11, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $15,070

The Libby Memorial Events Center serves as an important community gathering space, hosting everything from school concerts and workshops to nonprofit fundraisers and community meetings. But when a recent power surge damaged the building’s aging lighting system, the Memorial Center was left intermittently in the dark. Volunteers and a local electrician managed to patch together temporary fixes, but members of the Kootenai Heritage Council, the nonprofit owner and operator of the building, knew they needed a permanent solution. In need of support, they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help install a new LED lighting system at the Memorial Center, ensuring this vital community space can continue hosting events that bring Libby residents together.
