Landerites Find Relief Amidst Soaring Rental Prices

  • Local Champion: Almost Home Wyoming
  • Date Funded: May 17, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $29,000

The available rental inventory in Lander has seen drastic changes since September 2022, as monthly rent has increased an average of $250 since September 2022. That also means that the amount due for renters upon signing has skyrocketed, and many residents working low-paying jobs are struggling to keep up. Moreover, with only 5 income-restricted housing complexes in Lander, there is typically a waitlist, meaning it can take up to two years to secure a unit. With these issues in mind, the director of Almost Home Wyoming reached out to the LOR Foundation for help.  LOR ultimately made a grant that will help more than 15 households front a security deposit, the first and last month of rent, as well as fees associated with securing a rental property.
