Netting Returns an Outdoor Gathering Place to Buffalo’s Long-Term Care Residents

  • Local Champion: Johnson County Memorial Hospital Foundation Inc
  • Date Funded: August 11, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $21,000

For the residents of Buffalo’s Amie Holt Care Center, the back patio offers a place to plant flowers, gather with family, and enjoy fresh air—but errant golf balls from the adjacent course have made the space unsafe to use. One staff member with the Johnson County Healthcare Center Foundation identified this safety gap, so he reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the Amie Holt Care Center purchase and install safety netting around the back patio. The Johnson County Healthcare Center Foundation will contribute funds raised through a WYO Gives campaign to complete a patio expansion and landscaping, ensuring the full outdoor area is protected and accessible.
