Air Purifiers Create Healthier Homes for Monte Vista Residents

  • Local Champion: San Luis Valley Housing Coalition
  • Date Funded: September 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

For low- to moderate-income residents of High Valley Manor Apartments in Monte Vista—many of whom are older adults or people with respiratory conditions—poor indoor air quality from dust, seasonal wildfire smoke, allergens, and other pollutants poses a persistent health concern. Limited financial resources can make it difficult for residents to address these issues on their own. So, a resident and the San Luis Valley Housing Coalition approached LOR with an idea: provide air purifiers for all High Valley Manor residences and community spaces to help reduce exposure to airborne pollutants. LOR funding will allow the Coalition to purchase 40 air purifiers, helping create healthier, more comfortable living environments for Monte Vista residents.
