Land-Based Training Equipment Keeps Lander Divers Safe While Learning New Skills

  • Local Champion: Lander Diving Club
  • Date Funded: October 27, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,746

In Lander, divers of all ages—from young club members to middle and high school athletes—need proper equipment to learn safe diving techniques before attempting them in the water. The diving coach has been using a secondhand trampoline to teach proper form on land, but years of wear have made the equipment ineffective and unsafe for training. When she recognized that replacing this critical teaching tool would require raising fees and making the club less accessible, she reached out to LOR with a plan to upgrade training equipment. The specialized trampoline allows divers to practice spins and technique repeatedly in a safe environment, while a somersaulting chair helps students feel correct body positioning during rotations before progressing to the trampoline or pool. This land-based training approach builds confidence and skill mastery, reducing injury risk when athletes move to the diving board. LOR’s funding will help purchase a new trampoline bed and somersaulting chair, ensuring the diving club can maintain affordable rates while providing proper safety equipment for years to come.
