Kitchen Equipment Keeps Weiser’s Senior Meals Safe

The Weiser Senior Center serves over 1,000 meals to local residents each month, but a failing 29-year-old walk-in refrigerator and unreliable hot food table threatened the program’s sustainability. One volunteer board member worried that equipment failures could lead to dangerous foodborne illnesses among vulnerable seniors, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Weiser Senior Citizens purchase a new walk-in refrigerator compressor and electric hot food table with proper pans and covers to maintain safe food temperatures. The new equipment will ensure the center can continue providing healthy, safe meals to seniors through both their dine-in and home delivery programs.
