Info in an Instant Stickers Help First Responders Identify Disability Needs During Emergencies

  • Local Champion: A Lander local
  • Date Funded: February 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $8,255

In Lander, residents with disabilities have no way to quickly communicate their needs to first responders during emergencies like house fires—a reality that kept one local resident awake at night worrying about whether firefighters would know she needs help with mobility. After years of concern about how to communicate her challenges in an emergency situation, she had an idea: create a simple sticker system that first responders would immediately recognize. Working with law enforcement, fire departments, and ambulance crews who enthusiastically support the concept, she developed Info in an Instant—color-coded stickers and magnets placed on entrance doors to indicate specific disability types. This system gives first responders crucial information at the point of contact, making their jobs easier while keeping residents safer. LOR’s funding helped with the costs of a graphic designer for help creating the designs, as well as the cost of stickers and magnets to distribute free at community events, senior centers, hospitals, and through city agencies serving Lander’s disability community.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
