Free Carbon Monoxide Alarms Keep Lander Families Safe in Their Homes

  • Local Champion: A Lander local
  • Date Funded: November 18, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $3,000

In Fremont County, Wyoming, many older homes are still heated by wood-burning stoves or fireplaces, but not all of those homes have carbon monoxide alarms. When a Riverton family died, tragically, from carbon monoxide poisoning, one Lander local was motivated to find a solution. She worked with the city of Lander and the fire department, to come up with a plan to offer free carbon monoxide alarms to 200 families and launch an awareness and education campaign. They just needed a little help to launch the program and reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of 200 carbon monoxide alarms.
