First Aid Kits and Student-led Trainings Strengthen Emergency Preparedness in Questa

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: March 5, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $1,112

Families in Questa face limited access to immediate medical care due to their distance from hospitals and emergency services, meaning minor injuries can escalate without proper at-home supplies. When a teacher and FFA sponsor recognized how geographic isolation affects household emergency preparedness, she reached out to LOR with a student-led solution to equip every student’s family with essential medical supplies.

LOR’s funding will help Questa’s Future Farmers of America chapter purchase comprehensive first-aid kits for all student families and host a community workshop where students teach basic first aid and emergency response. This youth-led project will improve household safety in a rural community with longer emergency response times while also developing civic leadership skills among Questa students.
