Emergency Hotel Vouchers Keep Taos Families Out of the Cold

  • Local Champion: DreamTree Project, Inc.
  • Date Funded: November 14, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

In the aftermath of a local shelter closure and the sudden elimination of a long-standing hotel voucher program, Taos families facing chronic and transitional homelessness were left without a safe, temporary place where they could remain together. With winter fast approaching, a Dream Tree Project team member contacted LOR to help fund emergency hotel vouchers.

LOR’s support will fund more than 60 overnight hotel stays for families with children experiencing homelessness or crisis situations as part of a larger community effort to rebuild sustainable resources for unsheltered families and youth.
