Digital Records Put Public Information at Weiser Residents’ Fingertips

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: March 24, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $14,500

Weiser residents struggle to access public records in a timely manner because decades of city documents exist only in paper files, forcing city employees to manually search through physical archives to fulfill requests. After city clerks learned at a conference how other municipalities had digitized their records to improve access, they reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the city of Weiser hire contractors to digitize municipal records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and permits, and create a searchable system on the city’s website. The online portal will allow residents to retrieve public records 24/7 from home at no cost while reducing the burden on city staff who currently wade through multiple filing systems.
