Computers Streamline Public Transit in Libby

  • Local Champion: Lincoln County Public Transportation
  • Date Funded: November 26, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $1,120

Lincoln County Public Transportation has long relied on an aging computer system, paper records, and phone calls to track its rides. But as Libby’s demand for public transportation has grown, the system has become unsustainable. One staff member with the agency wanted to better serve the community. So, she came up with the idea for a new digital system to manage ride requests and driver schedules. In need of support, she reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help Lincoln County Public Transportation purchase new computers and implement a queue-based system that allows staff to schedule rides without disrupting drivers. The new technology will help Lincoln County Public Transportation create a safer, more efficient transit service, ensuring Libby residents can continue to depend on public transportation for their daily needs.
