Community Safety Events Train and Connect Cortez Locals

  • Local Champion: Cortez Farmers Market
  • Date Funded: August 22, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $3,300

Public safety is always at the front of mind for the Cortez Police Department and Cortez Fire Protection District. It’s an important mission that organizers with the Cortez Farmer’s Market also wanted to support. Their idea was to launch a series of community safety events where both the police department and the fire protection district could connect with residents and teach bike and fire safety. LOR’s funding helped the farmers market purchase bicycle helmets, smoke detectors, and goodie bags to give away to local kids and residents who complete the police departments’s obstacle course and talk with the fire protection district about safeguarding their homes.
