Community Focus Groups Guide Program Development in Questa

Historically, Questa residents, particularly families, elders, and Spanish-speaking community members, have not had consistent opportunities to provide input on local health, wellness, and social support needs, resulting in programs that may not fully reflect community priorities.

When an evaluator for local programs recognized the challenge of getting a full picture of community perspectives, she had an idea: host interactive focus groups designed as social activities, such as trivia nights, where residents could engage in a relaxed setting.

LOR’s funding helped facilitate four community focus groups that combined fun social gatherings with purposeful discussion, creating welcoming spaces where participants could share honest feedback while learning about existing resources. These low-barrier engagement sessions now provide valuable insights that inform program design and service delivery, ensuring Questa’s community programs better align with residents’ actual needs and priorities.
