Comedy Workshops Help Libby Residents Share Their Stories and Find Support

  • Local Champion: Lincoln County Health Department
  • Date Funded: August 12, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $15,000

Mental health stigma in Libby prevents residents from seeking help, leaving many isolated with limited access to local resources. The Lincoln County Health Department wanted to create a new approach that would reduce stigma while connecting people to support services, so staff reached out to LOR with an innovative idea. LOR’s funding will help the department hire an expert to teach local residents how to use comedy and personal storytelling as tools for mental health awareness and community connection. The program will include workshops for both youth and adults, monthly open mic events, and ongoing support from health department staff who will provide information about local mental health resources. By combining humor with authentic storytelling, the initiative aims to create a safe space where Libby residents can share their experiences and find support.
