An Updated Intake Space Eases the Burden for Weiser Residents Affected by Domestic Violence

  • Local Champion: ROSE Advocates Inc
  • Date Funded: September 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

For victims of domestic violence, seeking help is a crucial but often difficult step. In Weiser, ROSE Advocates has long served as the primary source of help for those affected by domestic violence, providing safe shelter, court advocacy, and other services. Yet, despite the group’s important work, ROSE Advocates faces challenges aiding new clients. The intake area at the nonprofit’s shelter lacks the warm, welcoming atmosphere needed to help victims feel safe while discussing sensitive issues, a problem staff wanted to solve but couldn’t because of financial constraints (All of the group’s funding goes to victims and domestic violence services). In need of help, one staff member reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help Rose Advocates update its intake area with new furnishings, window coverings, and other resources like books and toys to create a more comforting space for those who seek support. LOR’s funding will also help Rose Advocates acquire a new computer system to help staff process intakes more efficiently and ensure victims can access services with greater ease and dignity.
