Outreach Events Raise Awareness of Children’s Services in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: The Children's Specialty Clinic of the San Luis Valley INC
  • Date Funded: October 14, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Many Monte Vista families raising children with developmental, medical, or behavioral needs are unaware that specialized services—including occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavioral health, and applied behavior analysis—are available locally through the Children’s Specialty Clinic of the San Luis Valley (CSCSLV). Recognizing this gap, clinic staff reached out to LOR with a solution: launch a series of community events to connect families with the services already available to them. LOR’s funding will help CSCSLV purchase event supplies and contract an event planner, photographer, and on-site EMS services. The series launches October 31, 2026, with an inaugural Halloween 5K, followed by a second outreach event planned for spring or early summer 2027. By bringing clinic staff and information directly into the community, the events will help Monte Vista families find and access the specialized care their children need close to home.
