An Equipment Infusion Keeps Weiser Youth Sports Safe and Affordable

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: May 15, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $17,528

Despite its popular programs, the Weiser Recreation Department has one of the smallest budgets of any branch of the City of Weiser. The department often has to do more with less, providing safe and fun activities for Weiser’s growing youth population while covering equipment, insurance, referees, and other costs. Over the years the lack of funding has taken its toll and the department risks having to increase its fees to pay for new equipment. In need of help, one city staffer reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Recreation Department buy 25 football helmets, 44 jerseys, 48 footballs, 108 soccer balls, 18 soccer nets, 72 basketballs, and an assortment of baseball and softball gear, keeping local youth sports safe and affordable.
