Additional Investment Helps Launch Substance Abuse Treatment Programming in Taos

  • Local Champion: Taos Whole Community Health
  • Date Funded: September 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $26,411

For years, Taos residents struggling with substance abuse have had very few options for local treatment, which can present a significant barrier to their recovery.

Recognizing the need for a community-based Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, Taos Whole Community Health (TWCH) decided to launch a program built around integrated, whole-body treatments that address substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions to maximize the chances of participants’ long-term success. TWCH received significant government funding to pay for programming and staffing but needed a little extra support to access the appropriate equipment and training before launching its new treatment services, so a staff member reached out to LOR for help.

LOR’s funding will cover the cost of final building renovations, technology to accommodate hybrid peer support services, specialty furniture, and professional training courses for six employees, whose informed work through this program will undoubtedly save lives in Taos and beyond.
