A Public AED Improves Cortez Emergency Response

The parking lot of Children’s Kiva Montessori School has become one of Cortez’s busiest public spaces, drawing hundreds of community members each week for the Cortez Farmers Market and nearby park events. Yet no on-site AED exists to address a cardiac emergency, when every minute matters. One Children’s Kiva staff member knew this gap needed to be filled, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Children’s Kiva Montessori School purchase and install an AED with an outdoor alarmed cabinet. School staff and farmers market volunteer staff will receive training on AED use, and the unit will be available for both school and community use 24/7.
