Stocking a Mini-Pantry Provides Wholesome Nutrition for Buffalo Families

  • Local Champion: Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends
  • Date Funded: August 11, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $1,000

For residents experiencing food insecurity on Buffalo’s north side, distance and transportation are often barriers to assistance. The one resource nearby, a community mini-pantry at Cornerstone Pharmacy, has been stocked entirely through the personal funds of a small group of dedicated volunteers. While those volunteers have committed themselves to keeping the pantry filled, the cost of protein-rich foods has remained out of reach. One community volunteer recognized this need, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends work with volunteers to purchase a year’s supply of shelf-stable, protein-rich foods to stock the mini-pantry, ensuring all Buffalo residents have consistent access to nutritious food.
