A Welcoming Space Provides a Hub for Food Sovereignty in Cortez

  • Local Champion: Four Corners Food Coalition
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,541

Cortez residents working on food sovereignty issues lack a welcoming, accessible space where community members of diverse backgrounds can gather and collaborate. One staffer with the Four Corners Food Coalition wanted to create an inclusive community hub, so she reached out to LOR with her idea. LOR’s funding will help the Four Corners Food Coalition purchase outdoor furniture, native plants, and other materials to create a comfortable gathering place. The enhanced space will allow Four Corners Food Coalition to better serve residents through educational programs and events, bringing community members together to collaborate on food sovereignty and build cultural connection.
