A Tiny Investment in a Local Food Book Gives Local Farmers Bountiful Returns

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming College
  • Date Funded: August 15, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $102

The Town that Food Saved, by Ben Hewitt, is quintessential reading for aspiring new farmers like those enrolled in Central Wyoming College’s Crop Production Practicum. But the foundational tome is out-of-print, making it hard to find and expensive for students. So a CWC food specialist developed an idea that would solve this problem in perpetuity: Purchase a set of books that can be reused by CWC students year after year. LOR’s funding helped purchase 10 copies of the book that will allow them to help Lander’s local food systems thrive.

This project is supported by the Central Wyoming College Foundation.
