A Taos Local is Helping Connect Kids in Need With Clothing

  • Local Champion: Nonviolence Works, Inc
  • Date Funded: January 27, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Many Taos youth do not have access to basic, essential clothing, and while several schools have a stockpile of donated items, they often don’t have the correct sizes, and staff is frequently scrambling to purchase clothing. One Taos resident has been working to solve this problem with a new “Clothe-a-Child” program, in which items are purchased for children as needed—specifically undergarments and and weather-considerate clothing. The goal of the program is to share resources with the school district and other organizations who serve the youth, and then help children on a case-by-case basis. The LOR Foundation will help the program purchase clothing for up to 100 children during its first year of service.
