An Education Initiative Connects Cortez Residents with Healthy, Local Food

  • Local Champion: Pueblo Seed and Grain Hub
  • Date Funded: October 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Cortez residents have few local tools that can connect their everyday food choices with personal health, regional agriculture, and environmental sustainability. Hoping to fill this gap, one of the founders of the Pueblo Seed and Grain Hub came up with a solution: the Regenerative Plate, a food education initiative that helps residents understand how their food choices impact the world around them and their own well-being. LOR’s funding will help the Pueblo Seed and Grain Hub commission a local artist to create posters and booklets with recipes, as well launch educational classes and a social media campaign. The Regenerative Plate will give Cortez residents practical, visual tools to understand how seasonal, locally grown food supports their health and southwest Colorado’s broader food system.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
