A Simple Storage Solution Helps Lander Hospice Patients Receive Free Equipment

  • Local Champion: Anam Cara Giving
  • Date Funded: November 5, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $11,653

When it comes to end-of-life care, quality of life for patients is far greater when they are able to stay in their homes. The problem is that in-home hospice care is also expensive. Fortunately, one of Lander’s two hospice services, Anam Cara Giving—soon to be a nonprofit—provides equipment (mechanical lifts, bedside commodes, wheelchairs, hospital beds, etc.) to patients for free. Having a secure place to store that specialized equipment is essential to being able to serve even more people, so Anam Cara’s founder came up with an idea: Install a storage shed that would allow her to buy and store more equipment, thus serving even more patients. LOR’s funding helped support the purchase of the shed; LOR also helped Anam Cara Giving apply for nonprofit status.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation
