A New Therapy Room Expands Mental Health Services for Cortez Students

  • Local Champion: Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1
  • Date Funded: March 19, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $16,670

Many students in Cortez struggle to access mental health services, and the school-based clinic at Montezuma-Cortez High School lacks appropriate space for conducting effective therapy sessions. A nurse practitioner at the clinic saw how this limitation was affecting student mental health, so she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the school district install a door connecting the clinic to an adjacent workroom, creating a dedicated space for student therapy sessions. This simple modification will not only provide a more appropriate environment for mental health services but also improve clinic accessibility—allowing for more support for students of all ages.
