A New Outdoor Game Gets More Cortez Youth Involved

  • Local Champion: The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints
  • Date Funded: October 31, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $948

There are relatively few opportunities for Cortez youth to engage in healthy activities outside of traditional sports. But the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, in an effort to address this problem, recently purchased a “9 Square in the Air” game, which has been wildly popular and has led to dozens more kids participating on a weekly basis. In order to bring this solution to wider Cortez community, the church reached to LOR with an idea to purchase another game set, which it will share at no cost with other local groups and get more kids involved in healthy outdoor activities.

This project was fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
