A Free Coat Closet Warms the Children of Weiser

  • Local Champion: Western Idaho Community Action Partnership
  • Date Funded: December 17, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $8,450

Many of the Weiser children attending the Western Idaho Community Action Partnership Head Start program do not have cold weather clothing or the extra layers they need when temperatures take a plunge. One of the staff members at Head Start has wanted to address this problem by creating a free coat closet for children, but she lacked the funds to launch such a program. With help from the LOR Foundation, though, that’s changing. LOR’s funding will be used to purchase a storage shed and building materials, as well as warm clothing and boots to stock the coat closet. A community clothing drive will help replenish supplies annually, ensuring the solution will last for years to come.
