Wind River Pride Creates a More Inclusive Community in Lander

  • Local Champion: Wind River Pride
  • Date Funded: May 29, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Members of the Lander queer community often experience isolation and lack consistent connection to each other throughout the year. It’s particularly impacting queer youth, many of whom have started homeschooling, and adults who do not have supportive environments in their workplaces. To address this issue, members of Wind River Pride hoped to launch new events focused on building community—including youth-specific activities at June pride events, bimonthly gatherings, as well as an additional pride event held in the winter. Funding from the LOR Foundation was used to purchase food for these events, a PA system, decorations, a tent, and other materials that will help Wind River Pride build a more inclusive community.

This project was fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation.
