Volunteers Bring Working Artists into Lander’s Lunchrooms

  • Local Champion: ArtLink Wyoming
  • Date Funded: October 27, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $4,250

Public school students in Lander, Wyoming, often have little exposure to working artists—and might not even know the arts are a career option. Promoting Arts in Lander Schools (PALS) a volunteer group of local artists and arts supporters, has long sought to change that. After COVID interrupted their pilot “Art at Lunch” program, a PALS member approached LOR for help. It was clear that the pilot program, which brought local professional artists into local schools during lunchtime for live demonstrations and performances, had begun to meet an important need in Lander. LOR’s funding helped to reestablish the popular program during the 2021-2022 school year, ensuring that students had the opportunity to connect with “real” artists and their work. Not only did this grant give local artists a boost, it also showed other funders that the PALS program had the necessary support to ensure its long-term success.

This project was fiscally sponsored by Fremont County School District 1.
