Trail Stewardship Efforts Protect Questa Public Lands

  • Local Champion: J&L Powersports
  • Date Funded: June 12, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $4,500

With rising trail litter and irresponsible off-road recreation threatening future access to Questa’s public lands, and environmental damage straining relationships between riders and land managers, a local powersports business owner recognized the need for ongoing stewardship and community education. She proposed organizing cleanup events paired with outreach on responsible recreation. LOR’s funding helped J&L Powersports purchase 100 reusable trail trash bags, fire extinguishers, and educational materials to support three community trail cleanup days throughout the summer, guided cleanup rides, and educational gatherings featuring New Mexico Game and Fish. These initiatives will encourage riders to adopt Leave No Trace principles and wildfire awareness practices while building a culture of stewardship that protects Questa’s trails and public lands for future generations.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Localogy.
