Tools Equip Cortez Volunteers for Land Stewardship

Without tools and other supplies, the Montelores Coalition has been unable to mobilize volunteers for local projects that care for Cortez’s natural resources. Hoping to fill this gap, staff with the Montelores Coalition came up with a solution: a tool library. LOR’s funding helped the Montelores Coalition purchase shovels, gloves, safety vests, heavy-duty bags, trash grabbers, and other supplies to equip teams for on-the-ground stewardship along the Mancos River and at Hawkins Preserve and other community spaces. The shared equipment will allow the coalition to mobilize volunteers quickly, reducing costs and engaging Cortez community members in caring for the places where they live and recreate.
