Technology Upgrades Allow Food Bank to Serve Growing Number of Lander Families

In Lander, the Care and Share Food Bank serves residents of all ages and backgrounds struggling to provide for themselves and their families, but approximately five new families seeking help each week cannot register for services due to outdated technology. The food bank’s ancient desktop computer no longer supports their client management software, can’t communicate with the printer, and prevents staff from accessing crucial family records. When the newly hired food bank director recognized that this technological barrier was preventing vulnerable families from receiving supplemental food, she reached out to LOR with a plan to modernize their systems. A new laptop will not only allow the food bank to register new clients and access existing records but also support the director’s collaborative approach to addressing rising food costs and increasing demand. The portable technology will enable her to work with partner organizations throughout the community while developing innovative solutions to sustain the food bank’s mission. LOR’s funding will help purchase a laptop, printer, software, and storage to ensure no family is turned away due to technological limitations.
