Lighting Extends Events and Economic Opportunity at Libby’s J. Neils Park

  • Local Champion: Kootenai River Stampede
  • Date Funded: February 3, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $29,657

J. Neils Memorial County Park serves as Libby’s hub for outdoor community events including rodeos, concerts, and festivals. But the park’s few lights mean many activities can’t go on after dark, causing performers and visitors to skip Libby and vendors to lose sales. Staff with the Kootenai River Stampede wanted to provide new opportunities and attract more entertainers and vendors, so they reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the Kootenai River Stampede hire contractors to install new LED lighting in and around the arena at J. Neils Park. The improved lighting will enable longer evening events, attracting more visitors and locals who will spend their money in the community.
