Taos Adds Software and Training to Meet Increased Tutoring Demand

  • Local Champion: Embudo Valley Tutoring Association
  • Date Funded: December 15, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $8,030

School disruptions and learning loss caused by COVID-19 have created an increase in the need for tutoring services in Taos. Embudo Valley Tutoring Association, for example, has seen demand grow by more than 50 percent in the past two years. To meet that need, Taos needs more tutors, and the tutors need both more efficient tracking methods (currently they’re tracking data manually). Area educators came up with a solution to both problems: Tutoring software that allows tutors to be more efficient, so they can spend more time teaching and less time tracking; the software also helps support the recruitment and training of more tutors. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of the software as well as the development of a tutor manual and marketing materials to recruit more tutors.
