Survey Aims to Identify Barriers to Extra-Curriculars for Taos Students

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: January 31, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,966

More than half of the nearly 1,300 middle and high school students in Taos do not participate in extra-curricular activities, but the barriers, challenges—and in some cases the students’ interests—are unknown. To address this problem, a school board member hoped to conduct a survey among students and parents to better understand what it would take to get more kids involved, with an ultimate goal of getting every kid involved in some kind of extracurricular. The LOR Foundation helped the district launch the survey by covering technology costs and helping with marketing efforts as well as incentives for students to take the survey.
