Summer Theater Camp Expands the Performing Arts for Cortez Youth

  • Local Champion: A Cortez local
  • Date Funded: May 5, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $4,000

Cortez children have limited access to quality performing arts education outside of school, leaving many without important creative outlets during the summer months. After establishing a new arts organization, two local theater educators decided to launch a comprehensive summer theater program to fill in the gap. LOR’s funding helped the educators and their new venture, Lamp Post Creative Center, purchase production rights, scripts, set materials, and costume supplies for a three-week summer theater camp where participants will learn all aspects of theatrical production. The program will operate on a sliding scale fee structure with scholarships, ensuring every interested child can experience the collaborative process of creating and performing a full stage production for the community.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
