Start-up Supplies Provide Essential Care for Questa Strays

  • Local Champion: Localogy
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $14,820

Questa has experienced a significant increase in stray animals in recent years due to the closure of its local shelter, a lack of spay/neuter services, and a general deficit of resources to transition stray animals into adopted homes. A Questa local and passionate animal welfare advocate approached LOR with a solution to help curb the number of vulnerable animals in the community: launch a new, volunteer-run program to house and care for stray dogs and puppies while preparing them for adoption. LOR’s funding will enable the High Desert Hounds to purchase start-up equipment and supplies and launch a monthly awareness campaign to educate residents on the availability and benefits of spay/neuter services as they work to create a more compassionate and caring community for all animals in Questa and beyond.
