Portable Recovery Zone Supports Well-Being of Taos’ Youth Athletes

  • Local Champion: Southwest Athletic Club
  • Date Funded: June 30, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $3,865

Taos youth athletes often spend long tournament days without a dedicated space to rest, rehydrate, or refuel between games, limiting their ability to recover and perform at their best. When the Treasurer of Southwest Athletic Club identified this gap, they reached out to LOR for support to provide Taos youth athletes with a welcoming space to rest, hydrate, and build healthy habits. LOR’s funding will help Southwest Athletic Club purchase bean bags, folding lounge chairs, and floor mats; a large shade tent and canopy for outdoor events; coolers and hydration supplies; a healthy snack station with initial inventory; and storage and organization supplies to launch a portable Recovery Zone. The Recovery Zone will travel with the Athletic Club to tournaments, camps, workshops, and community events, serving hundreds of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families across multiple venues and seasons, delivering lasting community benefit with minimal ongoing maintenance.
