Sober Concert Series Creates New Entertainment Option for Lander’s Recovery Community

  • Local Champion: Lander local
  • Date Funded: April 16, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

In Lander, nearly all concert venues serve alcohol, creating a significant barrier for residents in recovery who find healing through music. After experiencing this challenge personally, one local musician and recovery advocate had an idea to create an alternative. Working with a friend, he rented a space and furnished it with secondhand items to establish a sober art venue, but he needed help launching regular programming. LOR’s funding helped purchase sound and lighting equipment, refreshments, promotional materials, and booking fees to bring both local and touring musicians to perform. This monthly concert series offers Lander’s recovery community a space where they can safely enjoy live music without the triggers of alcohol, while also providing a practice space for musicians and a gallery for visual artists—creating a multifaceted sober gathering place that complements existing recovery programs.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
