Teen Program Becomes Independent Organization to Support Continued Growth

  • Local Champion: First Friday Fun Night
  • Date Funded: December 9, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,490

In Lander, First Friday Fun Night has become a beloved monthly gathering where an average of 75 teens enjoy safe, drug- and alcohol-free events—from dances to game nights—drawing new participants each month and creating meaningful face-to-face connections. The program’s unexpected success has outgrown its original structure, requiring independence to continue serving Lander’s diverse teen population. After witnessing teens take ownership of the events and even ask to plan activities themselves, the volunteer founder had an idea to formalize the program as its own 501(c)(3) organization. This transition will allow First Friday Fun Night to expand while maintaining the free, accessible programming that has made it so popular. LOR’s funding will help cover essential startup costs including liability and directors’ insurance, background checks for chaperones, trailer registration for equipment storage, food and supplies for monthly events, and a laptop to streamline check-in processes and parent waivers.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
