Community Space Renovation Creates Alcohol-Free Gathering Hub in Questa

  • Local Champion: VFW 7688
  • Date Funded: December 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $15,000

Outside of bars and restaurants, Questa lacks places for families, elders, and teens to gather. As a result, the community has few safe spaces to connect without alcohol present or the need to spend money, limiting opportunities for positive intergenerational engagement. When VFW members noticed that community members—especially teens and veterans—were already informally using the building’s former cantina space to socialize, they proposed the idea of formally renovating it into a welcoming community hub.

LOR’s funding helped VFW Post 7688 purchase flooring, furniture, and kitchen equipment to support this transition.

Now managed by VFW volunteers on a rotating schedule, the revitalized space provides Questa residents of all ages with a substance-free environment to build connections, reduce isolation, and strengthen community ties.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Localogy.
